Hello Friends!!

Hello friends! Goodness, we've been gone for so long and I just wanted to do a quick post. Life has been a rollercoaster ride since Thanksgiving and I haven't felt like blogging in a good while, but we're back and can't wait to catch up with you all. We've had bitter cold temperatures here in Atlanta the past few weeks and it is killing me!! Not having a yard and getting up at 5am with my dogs to walk them in 20 degree weather has been brutal with these temperatures. Of course, they are loving it and couldn't be happier with the weather.

Last night, rain came in and Charlee got to try on his new raincoat. My little man is really growing. It's hard to believe he'll be a year old in a few shorts months.



I decorated my place for Christmas right before Thanksgiving, way too early I know, but here are some shots...I just love Christmas time!



And I'm just loving my new wreath I got from Kirklands...



I had forgotten about these pictures from Thanksgiving at my aunt's house of Charlee and my cousin, Anna Carol. They were too precious not to post!







I hope that you all have a very Merry Christmas next week! During Christmas time so many people look for true, inner peace through possessions, addictions, money and relationships but true peace isn't found in anything this world has to offer. True peace can only be found through a lasting relationship with Jesus Christ. This is a lesson I think God is beating with me a stick over my head right now. I have a personal relationship but I've looked for so long at all the other things to fill my soul. Thank you, God, that your mercies are new every day! May you all have a wonderful Christmas!

Holidays Right Around the Corner!!

It is so hard to believe that Thanksgiving is just a couple weeks away and Christmas will be here before you know it. We're still experiencing 75 degree temps down here in Atlanta but the nights and mornings are very cool. I'm starting to get into the holiday spirit though and I'm just loving these wreaths below and thinking I need a new holiday wreath for my front door...

Goodbye For Now...See You Again Soon

I said my goodbyes last night to one of Jeff's dogs, Dryfus, whom I have only known a year but whom I have grown to dearly love. I told him that even though I'd only known him a year, I loved him dearly and would see him again in Heaven. This morning, Dryfus passed on at the vet's office with Jeff and Lady close by into Heaven and entering the Pearly Gates as we speak. The tears I cried last night as I said my goodbyes to Dryfus pale in comparison to what Jeff is going through today, so please keep him in your prayers.

He's likely barking away right now on the streets of Heaven bossing everyone around...It's only goodbye for now, Dryfus.

Halloween and Little Buddy

Hello friends!



Well all the dogs thoroughly enjoyed Halloween this past Sunday and seeing all the kiddos in the neighborhood come and go. It was Lacy's first "official" Halloween as in inside dog and she stayed posted on the couch looking out Jeff's window to see the trick-o-treaters. Charlee and Dixie tried pushing their way through the door to see all the kids when the doorbell would ring. Dixie loves children, so she was SUPER excited when they arrived.

Costumes , however, were a completely different story! They were a definite "NO" because anytime you place any clothing on my dogs, they freeze. Literally, FREEZE and will not move one inch. So I've given up on that! Halloween was a beautiful day down here in Atlanta and we stayed outside most of the day and later watched "30 Days of Night: Dark Days." It was the sequel to the first vampire movie that I had never seen and I have to say that it was one of the scariest movies I've ever seen.

Life has been really busy lately and little Buddy is still hanging around my place. I feed him every day and now this has turned into him hanging out right next to my door all day/night long. He's so feral that I can't handle him, so I've contacted some cat rescues to see if they could take him. I don't mind feeding him in the least or him hanging out, but I'm so afraid he's going to get hit as he has now started walking with Charlee and I. When Charlee and I walk, we go a good solid 1.5 hours around the neighborhood so it's just not safe for him. Plus, the little guy just needs a good home!


He would make a great cat to someone, it is just going to take time...


He's got some scars from obvious cat fights, which is why I'm trying to find either a rescue to take him or a friend so he can receive his vet care.


Since he has decided to change his residence to my house, I placed one of Lily and Daisy's cat beds outside last night so at least he could stay warm. The temperatures here in the deep South are finally starting to drop. Needless to say, he loved it. There were black hairs all over it this morning when I was taking the dogs out for their morning walk.

I'm LOVING my new place as well! It is so nice and I took a few pictures of the kicthen area below last night...

We Love Some Peanut Butter!

Well I still don't have any new pictures of my new place up yet. I've been meaning to take pictures for not only my blog, but for some of my close co-workers, friends and family (back home in Kentucky.) However, this week has just been ever so crazy with work unfortunately that I just simply have not had the time to take any. I promise to have some up next week.

One of my newest dog finds is the "Kong." I've always seen these used, but I've never had any for my dogs. So the last time I was at Krogers before my move, I decided to pick some up for Charlee and Big D (aka- Dixie). I thought they would be a great treat to give to the dogs while I was in the process of moving last weekend and it turns out that they were a hit! I placed peanut butter, dog bones and other little dog treats in the Kong and then froze it. Charlee and Big D absolutely LOVED it! I know you can buy the Kong filler but the price tag on that just seemed a little steep when you can fill it with peanut butter instead. Does anyone else have other ideas with food items to fill the Kong with?

In other news, Lacy completed her last round of heartworm treatment yesterday and she has made it through. Jeff and I are thrilled she made it through! Thank you God and for everyone's prayers! Last night I brought out the peanut butter and placed it on the end of some dog bones. Charlee and Lacy watched with ever so slow amazement at the jar. So I pulled out my camera and snapped these because sometimes you just have the funniest moments to capture- like the love of peanut butter!


"Hurry and get it out, Mom!" Charlee began to bark at this point. He is a very vocal little guy!


Lacy would have really just enjoyed having the whole jar herself!

We're Moved!

Hello friends! We just finished moving into our new place on Saturday, which is why I haven't blogged in so long. We'll recap soon!

The new place looks GREAT!

Lily and Daisy were not so happy about the move- they hate change! Felines are creatures of habit.

Charlee and Dixie managed to scare the movers who moved all my heavy furniture by just being themselves. The movers came and moved all my heavy furniture but were petrified of the dogs. And the dogs knew it because they did everything in attempt to make them like them. Poor guys!

My mom came down from Kentucky Friday afternoon to help me move, thanks Mom!

No Nashville for Lacy!

I took the day off today to head north to Nashville with Charlee and Lacy, so that the couple in Nashville who were interested in adopting Lacy could meet her. Boy, did it NOT go the way I expected it to. The expectations of how they presented themselves were not the reality of what I saw or experienced. As soon as we pulled into the neighborhood, I knew it was not what I had pictured, but as long as they would have provided Lacy with a nice and loving home, I was okay with that. The first problem was that I had called the father about 30 minutes outside of Nashville to see if he wanted to meet at a local park so that neither dog was territorial- especially their pit bull- Chaos. He wanted not part of this, so I was under the assumption that we would just let all three dogs out in their backyard to explore and greet each other.

Wrong again....That did not happen. As soon as I pulled into the yard, there were 5 cars packed in front of this teeny tiny house and basically no front yard whatsoever. So I proceeded to get out of the car and I turned back to see him standing with Chaos, so I walked up to shake his hand and pet Chaos. Immediately Chaos began to growl and it just went down hill from there. He didn't want to let the dogs out back and basically said to me that he just wanted to see Lacy and decide how she acted from the leash standpoint. Well, this is never a good idea but Lacy was SUPER sweet until he began to growl at Charlee and attempted to attack Charlee. Then, Lacy had enough and went after Chaos. She just lunged and growled but it was enough for the man and he said, "NOPE, SORRY." Well HELLO they're not going to immediately get along when your dog is trying to eat my golden retriever. Good grief!

I was livid to say the least and it just was super upsetting because I took the day off, drove 4 hours north and rearranged my schedule to meet some jerk with an aggressive pit. I mean have some manners buddy! The positive thing though is that Lacy will never live with him and we're going to keep trying to find her a good home. It's just SO hard down here because no one wants to adopt a pit bull. Everyone is so scared of them. If you know of anyone who is looking to adopt, please let me know!

I've also received some very hateful comments on here about Lacy, and Jeff and I trying to adopt her out and what an idiot someone thinks I am. It's hurtful and rude and frankly Jeff and I have done everything to give Lacy a better life from being tethered on a chain freezing which was her previous life. So please, leave your comments to yourself. This is my blog and I cannot imagine ever writing what has been written on my blog about anyone's life.

Quick Trip to Madisonville...

Friday afternoon, I left my office early to head to my hometown of Madisonville, Kentucky. Charlee and Dixie were excited to be heading out for a trip so they followed me around while I finished packing up and getting Lily and Daisy situated before we left. When I go back to Kentucky, I'm either heading up to my Mom's who lives right outside of Lexington or to my hometown of Madisonville where my Dad still resides. I don't get to Madisonville very often, so when I do it's always a special treat. We stayed with my grandmother, Nana, and she loved the dogs and they loved her! It was such a quick weekend because we got in around 9:30 central time on Friday evening and then left Sunday afternoon around 1pm my time.

Charlee and Dixie get up at the crack of dawn (5am) every day and even on the weekends, so unfortunately I'm never able to sleep in and every Saturday and Sunday we run, so I thought Charlee and I would take a little run through Madisonville. We ran all the way through town to the Taco Johns (which I just LOVE and miss- it's SO good) and then turned around and headed back. Charlee loves to run and every time he'd see a store window, he'd stop and look at his reflection in the mirror and bark!

Later that afternoon, I met my best friend, Kali, for lunch at a new restaurant in town and her little baby- Brooklyn. Kali had Brooklyn 4 months ago and it was my first time seeing her. She was just a doll and such a good little girl! We had a great time catching up and it was great to see her and little Miss Brookyn!

Saturday evening my Dad had a campaign party and it was good to see people I haven't seen in so long! I brought my camera and meant to take pictures, but you know how that goes. My Aunt Ann and Uncle Kenny made 400 ham sandwiches because it was a "ham sandwich" party (the story is too long to tell) but anyway it was a great success! Good luck Dad!

I also was able to catch up with one of my best friends, Kim, who I love and just miss dearly. It was SO good seeing you Kim and your mom! All in all, it was a really nice visit but it's always good to be home!

I love this quote and the first time I read it this morning, I knew it was exactly what I needed to hear.....The dogs and I are headed to Kentucky tonight after I leave the office which may turn out to be a nightmare with Atlanta traffic. One of my best friends, Kali, had her baby a couple months ago and I can't wait to meet her tomorrow and head to a campaign party tomorrow night for my Dad. I can't wait to be home and catch up with everyone!

Lacy Made It Through!!

Lacy made it through her heart worm treatment like a champ! Jeff picked her up yesterday afternoon and he said she was so happy to see him. Charlee and I stopped by Jeff's house last night after we left the Chattahoochee from our nightly run to check on Lacy. She was very lethargic and you could see the two spots on her lower back where the medicine was injected into her body. It was SO nice to see her and let her sleep in my lap for a good hour or so. Thank you everyone for keeping her in your prayers! The family in Nashville also are still planning to adopt her, which is great!!

Lacy begins heartworm treatment this morning and I am as nervous as a cat. She's such a small pit bull and the drugs are going to be very heavy for her body. Please keep her in your prayers!

Fun at Chastain

Well little wild man (aka-Charlee) is finally feeling much better. He has been on his antibiotics for a couple days now and really is turning the corner. Dixie did not contract it either, which I am so grateful for. That would have been absolutely dreadful! We've had a crazy week so far and on the way in to my office today, there was a huge accident on 400 (which is an interstate here in Atlanta) and I was in traffic for over an hour and then all my tires blew out. Talk about the way to begin a Friday!

Also, in other news, I am afraid that the great Nashville family who wanted to adopt Lacy, are backing out of the adoption. I have been trying to get in touch with them for the past week because Lacy begins her heart worm treatment on Monday and I've received no response as of yet. I know there are many pit bull lovers out there, so if you know of anyone looking to adopt that could provide a great home, please let me know. Lacy is a great dog but since Jeff and I are no longer together, the need has heightened. With our other pets (my felines and Jeff's older dogs) it's made it impossible to keep her forever with each of us. I'm really at a loss because I'm not over there helping with her all the time and yet I can't take her myself because of my felines whom she doesn't get along with. If you know of anyone interested, please let me know!

One Sick Little Pup

The last couple of days Charlee has been acting very lethargic and basically stopped eating any of his food, so we headed into the vet yesterday afternoon to see what was going on with him. I figured he had picked something up at the dog park, ate something dead, or had a foreign body floating around his stomach. Once we got there, they started pumping fluids in him, tested him for Parvo (even though he's already received the vaccine) and deducted that he has some type of rare bacteria in his body which is making him very sick. So a $400 bill later and two hours later, we left to head home with a strict REST time. That was not so easy last night.

I took some cute pictures of him though yesterday while we were waiting on Dr. Levinson. He looks more and more like a little wolf cub!

He's a Runner!

Charlee went for his very first run last night with me and he did great! I love to run and it always seems to take the stresses out of life, at least for me it does. So we went for a good solid hour around my neighborhood and little guy did great. Needless to say, he slept soundly last night!!!


This shot wasn't around my neighborhood, it was a the dog park. He LOVES the dog park and all of his friends there. He practically runs in every time. I love the dog park because he can run off leash since I don't have a yard.


Dixie and Charlee both got baths yesterday afternoon....Happy Monday!

We're Back!!

Well we're back and it's been a couple weeks since I last posted. Life just gets in the way sometimes. Jeff and I broke up again per his request (AGAIN) and that's all I really have to say about that! Some guys can be such jerks, but isn't there always a downside of love? The downside though in this case is that I haven't seen Lacy since it all happened which has been ever so hard and sad because I'm trying to keep the distance yet she lives with him. This is really when I wish I had a house because I could have taken her a long time ago!!!

Fortunately though, we have found her a wonderful home with a friend of a friend in Nashville. One of my girlfriends, Amber, lives in Nashville and works as a nurse with an older fellow who has been looking to adopt another dog. Little did I know, Amber mentioned Lacy and showed him pictures of her on my Facebook page and they were interested. So he went through my rigorous adoption application and passed with flying colors! He and his wife are fantastic and I am SO happy that Lacy will have 24/7 attention and a great life! His wife stays home and Lacy will just love that. So once her heartworm treatment is complete at the end of September and she has some time to recoup, I will be taking her to Music City!

In other news, little Charlee is getting so long and lean. He is pretty aggressive though and curbing that has been keeping me busy. He has the Chow tongue, so he obviously has some Chow in him and he is just a handful! He loves the dog park and we go pretty much every night. I'll be so glad when he gets old enough to start running with me! If you've ever had a chow, do you have any advice on the aggressive traits?

Half of my law school applications are in and I am very excited about this. My preference would be Lewis and Clark out in Portland, Oregon so keep your fingers crossed for me! The next half will go in once the October 1st deadline opens up. I'm so very excited about this next part of my life opening up. As my Mom always says, "When one door closes, another opens." Oh, how true!

I read all the time and the books below are some good reads I can't wait to come out.. Hope you're having a great morning!!

Little Buddy Needs a Home

Homeless little black feline needs a home!!!



I have been feeding this precious little black feline in my apartment complex for the past two weeks now and I wanted to post this on my blog in case anyone is reading and is interested in adopting the little guy. Every morning and evening, he waits for his food/water near the veterinarian's office across the street from me. I'm guessing that he is most likely 3-4 years old because I immediately noticed him when I moved in my apartment nearly 2 years ago and tried to feed him, but he was just NOT having that. Then he disappeared for a good year or so and now he's back.



He is just so sweet and quite the talker. Eventually, I'll try to get him into my vet to have him checked out, but unfortunately I can't bring him into my place because there's simply not enough room and Lily & Daisy would pack their bags and move on out.



He is becoming very friendly with the dogs and I, and I'd really like to find him a nice home before it gets too cold. Plus, he's constantly dodging cars and the city life (living in Atlanta where people drive crazy!). Yesterday was Jeff's 36th birthday and even though we both had to work, we went to a delicious dinner last night at Stony River. So good! I made him take this picture even though he was objecting, because everybody has to take a picture on their birthday!


Lady enjoyed wearing her birthday hat and was just walking around happy as a camper!


Dixie wasn't much on the hat and kept trying to take it off...


Dryfus was just happy that I made cupcakes and sat in the kitchen the whole time barking to watch the progress. I think Charlee is going to be a lot like Dryfus! They both are super vocal males.

I know people say that golden retrievers are like humans in that they want to follow you everywhere and even though that is true, pit bulls cross further across that line. They LOVE to be with you and posess human like qualities. They are just precious and Lacy is just a sweetheart.

Charlee is just getting so big that I'm hardly able to pick him up anymore. He's growing out of the baby stage.


This is a random picture but I bought these a month ago on Etsy. I am in love with that store! It's so neat and has the cutest things. They will be great decorations for Halloween.

In other news, all my law school applications are ready to go and I'm just waiting for "open" dates to arrive to send each one out. I'm applying to about 8, so my Dad sent me the application fees.
