Goodbye!!

So I've been thinking a lot lately about what I want to do with this little piece of my life. I love my blog but lately it's barely breathing and BIG changes are coming and with that I simply just don't have the time it seems to update anymore and when I do it's overwhelming. I'm not going to shut the blog down because I love my little blog that I started 7 years ago but maybe I'll just update here and there.

Quick Trip to DC

Last Friday morning I flew up to visit my little brother, Jack in Washington, DC. My Dad and little sister, Maggie also flew in from Kentucky where I met them at the airport to take the train into DC. Maggie is getting ready to leave for Australia soon so it was great to visit with her as well! The train in from Baltimore will go as far as New York and Boston so we were on the short trip into DC.

We met Jack at Union Station which is right near his apartment and his apartment looks like something out of a magazine in Manhattan. Floor to ceiling windows and the view of the city is just incredible. He has 6 other roommates and they all get along great! At the top of the building is a pool and grill area. There are lots of large dogs that live in the city and especially his high rise.

We went to Georgetown that night for dinner at Martin's Tavern which is famous for serving presidents from Richard Nixon to JFK and LBJ. Jack stopped in booth #3 to take a picture where JFK proposed to Jackie where the booth is now known as the "proposal booth."

 

 

Georgetown had absolutely the BEST shopping so after dinner we shopped around a good bit. And in DC much like NY, you walk everywhere.

The next morning Maggie and I got up early and went for a long run. Miss Maggie played collegiate soccer so her idea of running and mine (jogging) are somewhat different. She runs so fast! After breakfast, we all started out the day walking around the city. I bet we walked 7-10 miles that day just sightseeing. There were so many runners and dogs and I just loved it. It was my type of place.

 

Most everything was closed because of the government shut down but it was still neat to see all the sites.

Miss Maggie and Jack! And you won't see a picture of me because I didn't change out of my running gear since it was in the high 90's! 

 

DC was such a pretty city! The grass and flowers were simply gorgeous.

And even the Secret Service police were not too shabby!

We ate lunch at Jack's favorite Texas restaurant for lunch and then we headed back over to Georgetown to do some more shopping.  

 

We went to dinner that night at a pizzeria called, "Red Rocks" which is another of Jack's favorites. It was delicious! All in all, I'm very proud of Jack. He's doing BIG things at such a young age and we joke that he'll be the next president.

DC + Jack

Hey sweet friends! Is anyone still out there besides my Dad who reads this every morning when he gets to his firm and tells me I need to update more... Love you, Dad!

I took a little blogging break because I've really been trying to disconnect from social media so much. My dear friend, Heather who just recently moved to New York City got me on Instagram and I realized I was hooked and spending way too much time checking my phone.

Tomorrow morning I'm flying up to Washington, DC to visit my little brother, Jack who is interning for Kentucky's state senator, Mitch McConnell. Jack accepted Christ this past summer and the little guy is just on the right path and I'm SO proud. He's a sophomore in college at the University of Kentcky this year and has held a 4.0 throughout. While I was in college and we were throwing down at Two Keys or at the Tri-Delt house, Jack is studying for the LSAT, interning at the capitol and living out God's calling on his life and his dream. And he's always looking snazzy! I can't wait to see him and catch up and hopefully I'll be back soon!
